Lambretta Fork steering bearing lower tapered bearing kit, Race-Tour MB
This is our MB Scooters specially design much improved tapered lower steering bearing set.
Steering bushes and bearings vary from all over and sometimes steering adjustment is near impossible. Add to the fact some stems can be just slightly off.
Based on this, we had some special non standard oversized tapered roller bearings made and we made the lower bush for the frame to suit.
The tapered roller bearing is larger and stronger and trues up forks when adjusted so there is no wobble but a smoother feel to your steering.
Once fitted the kit just looks standard.
Comes with:
- Lower frame cup
- Lower frame tapered roller bearing
Top Tip; make sure the taper bearing fits freely on the forks. Some forks have a big chamfer, this chamfer needs filing away so the bearing can fit in place. Forks vary in size - ideally clean the area with emery cloth so the bearing is an easy light tap in place, if loose use loctite. If tight hammering the bearing will damage it!
Top Tip 1; Spanish Series 2/Winter models don't use the Series 3 dust cover on the forks and frame, use the original one on the forks
Top Tip 2; Early series 1/2 frames are not machined as deep as series 3's, These are machined to suit series 3's so you can cut off the extra part with an angle grinder
- Frame tubes vary in size for the lower frame cup, its always best to clean out the metal with a flap wheel so the cup doesnt need tons of pressure to fit it
- Fork sizes also vary where the original race fits, again clean up the metal before fitting the tapered bearing. ALWAYS tap the inner part of the tapered bearing down the forks, it doesnt need to be a very tight fit
