Lambretta Clutch steel plate, Special 2.0mm x 2mm with raised edge, 1st steel fitment, MB
This is MB’s own design – a 2 × 2 mm clutch steel bottom plate, developed for use in any 5-plate clutch setup that uses standard clutch spiders and pressure plates.
In many 5-plate kits, depending on the combination of parts used, the bottom clutch steel can sometimes spin and lock underneath the clutch spider.
When this happens, you lose drive and experience clutch slip. A deeper clutch spider would normally solve this issue, but most riders prefer to keep standard components and assume that simply adding a 5-plate setup is a worthwhile upgrade.
To address this, MB Scooters has designed this special bottom clutch steel.
Normally, the first friction plate is 2.5 mm thick — these can still be used. However, using a standard 3.5 mm friction plate helps to reduce the gap, preventing the bottom steel from spinning.
Next, fit this new 2 × 2 mm steel plate, with the raised edge facing the crankcase side. This feature also helps stop the plate from spinning under the crownwheel.
After that, you can continue to use your usual combination of 0.9 mm / 1.0 mm clutch steels and 2.5 mm friction plates as normal.
This plate is compatible with any clutch kit that uses standard parts or deeper aftermarket components.
Make this plate a standard inclusion in every clutch rebuild.
