Labour to machine SIP rims correctly for fitting Heidenau/BGM tyres
Over the years we've had so much trouble fitting Heidenau and bgm tyres to SIP rims - our preffered tubeless rims.
Even knowing all the fitting tricks and having proffessional tyre fitting equipment, now and then you get the odd one, no matter what you do or how much pressure you put in the tyre it will not pop in place!
The design of the SIP rims are limited because of the wheel stud diameter which gives a lack of well to make fitting and removing tyres easy.
Both Heidenau and bgm tyres (made by Heidenau) have a tighter inner diameter compared to others and they also have the strongest side wall.
One side of the SIP rim has a chamfer for the tyre pop in place, the other side is a sharp with no leading edge to help the tyre climb in place.
The cure is to mount the rim in a lathe and machined it to give a leading edge, once this is done tyres fit perfectly.
This is the price to machine a new rim by MB in house.
Tyre fitting is a sparate cost.
